Pianist /Music Director
Dunagan Chapel UMC in Gainesville seeks a part-time Pianist /Music Director. The primary responsibilities include playing piano and leading choir and congregational hymns Sunday AM services and leading Wednesday night choir practice. Dunagan Chapel UMC is a 100 member church with average attendance of 50. Salary range is $4800 to $6000 annually depending on experience.
Part-time music director
Toccoa First United First in Toccoa, Georgia has an opening for a part-time music director. The Music Director oversees the music program for the 11:00 Worship Service on Sunday, and special days (e.g., Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, cantatas etc.). This includes practices (Wednesday evenings) and performances of the adult hand-bell choir, adult chancel choir, leading congregational songs and selection of hymns and special music. Music is chosen with overall guidance from the Senior Pastor and the Worship Committee Chairperson. In depth understanding of church music and experience in choral direction is essential. Director of Music Ministries
Director of Music Ministries
Covington First United Methodist Church (www.covingtonfirst.org) is seeking a dedicated Christian and dynamic music director to lead the music ministries of Covington First UMC. Covington First UMC is a vibrant and growing family of faith (750+) located in a community-oriented suburb east of Atlanta.
In coordination with the Senior Minister, the Worship Committee, the Administrative Council, and others, the Director of Music Ministries plans, coordinates, leads, directs and oversees all aspects of the music ministry of the Covington First United Methodist Church. Qualified candidates should possess:
1) A solid commitment to Jesus Christ and to the mission of The United Methodist Church
2) Degree in Music, Sacred Music, Choral Conducting, or comparable degree
3) Experience leading choirs of all ages in a church environment and in a variety of worship settings
4) Ability to help people discover their place in the music ministries of the church
5) Ability to lead, organize and communicate effectively with others
6) An energetic, flexible and team-player spirit
7) A clear understanding and belief in the United Methodist doctrine 86) Skills in prioritizing and managing time, scheduling choir rehearsals and working with multiple choirs and musicians in a variety of worship environments
9) Excellent oral and written communication skills
10) Ability to maintain information as highly confidential
11) Willingness to live in the Covington community
12) Availability to work non-standard hours
13) Theological education preferred but not required
Responsibilities include working within traditional and contemporary worship environments to help create an atmosphere for effective worship through the following:
1) Leading the Chancel Choir
2) Leading other individual and group worship service music
3) Overseeing Handbell Choirs
4) Overseeing Children's and Youth Music, including Youth Praise Bands, Youth Handbells, and other groups
5) Oversight of management of Music Library and Music/Choir Area and working with volunteers to maintain these areas
6) Communicating with Pastoral staff, office staff and others to provide information in a timely manner
7) Working cooperatively with other staff and church membership to grow the music ministries of the church
8) Attending worship planning meetings, staff development meetings, and other meetings as required
9) Planning for and maintaining the budget for the Music Department
10) Performing other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Senior Pastor, Associate Pastor and the SPRC.
Candidate must be able to work 20 hours per/week and must be available for regular practices and worship services, special services, and occasional community worship services as they arise. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
The selected individual will be expected to begin part-time employment immediately.
