Dinner with Cambodian Missionaries Marilyn and Joseph Chan and author Catherine Guess
Ms. Guess is appointed by the UMC as the "circuit riding musician." In addition, she is the author of more than 20 books. Ms. Guess’ latest book Because He Lives tells the amazing story of Marilyn and Joseph Chan, two missionaries in Cambodia. The book is scheduled to be on the UMW reading list in the near future. The book focuses on Marilyn’s and Joseph’s lives under the Khmer Rouge (around two million people died under the regime from executions, starvation, disease and overwork) , the Chan's narrow escape from execution, the miraculous way in which Jesus transformed their lives, and their incredibly important work on behalf of the least of these in Cambodia. Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to building a senior center in Cambodia. A salad dinner will be served along with a few Cambodian treats. There is a $5 charge per person for dinner, with the money also going towards the senior center. All are welcome. Childcare available.
