Mike’s calling into ministry began as a passion to be a science teacher. While taking as many courses as possible in high school science, he was also involved in his local United Methodist Church youth group. While teaching a youth-led Bible Study in his junior year, God called Mike to teach – not science – but God’s Word to God’s people. And that began his journey for education in the field of Scripture and his ordination in the United Methodist Church.

With 94 churches and 74 pastors to supervise, Mike is enjoying seeing the broad spectrum of United Methodist ministry in the Griffin area. Worshipping with the pastors and people of the churches has been of first importance.

His emphasis will be to challenge each church to become an outpost for ministry in the community for the purpose of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Mike and Connie’s family has grown. Daniel married Amanda Stephens, a Nazarene youth pastor. They are now serving the Nazarene Church in Watertown, New York and have two children, Ethan and Elliana. Leanne is a recent graduate of Reinhardt College.
