River of Life

River of Life Mission Advance is a series of camps like no other you have attended. Young people and adults from dozens of churches will come together for five days dedicated to serving others. Through it all we experience the love of Christ in new and exciting ways.

Mission Construction Team to Uganda

The North Georgia Conference 2012 Uganda Bridge mission trip will be March 3-13, 2012. The total cost, including airfare, lodging, and most meals is $2000. The team will be working to build a girls dormitory for the Humble Place School. For more information or to request an application, email Rev. Dalton Rushing at dalton.rushing@ngumc.net. Bahamas Hurricane Relief

Bahamas Methodist Habitat is a disaster relief and emergency home repair outreach ministry of the Bahamas Conference of the Methodist Church through which volunteers work together to repair and build homes for low-income families in the Bahamas. Our goal is to improve the living conditions and lifestyle for families in need in the Bahamas, while offering transforming experiences for volunteers and homeowners alike by sharing and receiving the Love of Christ. The hope is that volunteers will return home with an expanded view of the world and an inspiration for creating ways to be involved in their own community. Home owners will come through the experience with safe living conditions and renewed motivation.

Hyderabad, India

We support Hope for Today Ministries on this trip. Witnessing, teaching and preaching will be required. We are also hoping to work on a church construction project in the tsunami area of NE India.

Kwambekenya, Kenya

We assist this community in improving their situation; we have helped build a school and medical center so far. To develop personal Christian relationships with the people of Kenya. Trip includes a visit to the Havilla Children’s Home and a safari day visit to a game reserve to see African animals and landscape.

Macedonia - Miss Stone Center

To prepare and deliver hot meals to those who are hungry and alone. To put smiles on faces of children as they learn English.

MUST Ministries

MUST Ministries cannot survive without the support of people like you - people who care about the needs of their neighbors. Most of the day-to-day work at MUST is provided by volunteers who give hundreds upon hundreds of hours to serve others. Last year alone volunteers like you contributed over 255,000 hours of their time to MUST to assist their neighbors in need. That means that for every 1 hour of MUST staff time volunteers donated 3 hours 30 minutes of their own time!

MUST provides a wide range of volunteer opportunities in all three program office locations(Marietta, Smyrna, Cherokee). Even if you have a busy schedule, have children, or have a large group you want to volunteer, there is always some way to volunteer with MUST. Our daily volunteer positions are listed here on our website, as well as group service project ideas, but please contact one of our volunteer coordinators today to learn about other opportunities to serve!

Orphanage in Liberia

Orphan Aid, Liberia is a Christian ministry following God’s call to serve orphaned children in Liberia, West Africa. OAL was birthed in 2008 and it is our charge by God to feed, clothe, provide medical care and safe shelter, disciple, protect, and educate orphaned children in one of the poorest countries in the world. Our work has been focused in the village of Balama as there are a great number of orphaned children in this particular area. Mission teams are needed to work in the orphanage and surrounding village.

RAPHA Medical Clinic-Haiti

Carrollton First UMC sponsored team helped to establish the RAPHA Medical Clinic in April, 2010. The Clinic is still open under the leadership of 2 Haitian Drs, and 3 nurses. They serve people living in Citi Solidarity, PAP, many of which are still in tents. The Clinic is part of the ministry of the Bethlehem Church with Dr. Rigaud Antoine as pastor. Associated with Bethlehem Church are a school with about 600 students; a Children's Home with about 85 children (many orphaned by the earthquake); Church and the Clinic. The Clinic needs small medical teams to go to help the Drs and nurses; need monitary donations for support of the Clinic; need donations for medicines as many patients cannot afford medicine. The patients pay a small amount but is not sufficient to pay the staff. Many of the staff have been working for "free". Dr. Michael Poss of Carrollton, GA is mentoring the Staff and monitoring the Clinic. Romania - Deborah House

To provide safe, fun relationship building and interaction with the girls of Deborah House (home for abused girls in Romania), sharing the love of Christ with them and the community in which they live, as well as arms, legs and backs for light construction work on the facilities that support them.

Romania - Life Academy

To disciple and build up the youth of Romania, orphans who are transitioning from institutions to adult life.

San Jose, Costa Rica

We provide structural repairs and VBS for Monte de los Olivos United Methodist Church, along with our missionaries Steve and Karoline Gober, in a poor area of San Jose, Costa Rica called Barrio Mexico. VBS is a successful outreach for the church and community.

Seminario Wesleyano de Venezuela

The Seminario Wesleyano de Venezuela is a undergraduate degree seminary. It is 7 years old and now has its own campus. Work teams are needed for a variety of construction projects on the beautiful campus. Both skilled and unskilled teams are welcome. Opportunities also include partnering with churches in the area and working with local teams. This is a great opportunity to impact an entire country for Christ. Bethlehem Senior Center
Call Bingo ... teach crafts ... lead a Bible study ... share computer skills ... or just "hang out" with seniors who provide delightful company.

Project Extend
Skilled and unskilled volunteers are welcomed.  Companies, service organizations and churches provide teams who work under the supervision of an expert leader.  Teams of 6-12 persons are ideal for typical projects.  Tools are provided, although many of our "regulars" prefer to bring their own.  Training is available for volunteers interested in coordinating repair teams.

Wesley Walk for Others
Gather a few friends for an invigorating 6 mile walk around Stone Mountain, or a trek around the grounds of Atlanta Motor Speedway.  Walkers who collect pledges of $25 or more earn one of our popular "Giving Feet to the Faith of the Church" tee shirts, plus the satisfaction of helping important ministries.

Haiti

The work in Haiti at The Good Shepherd School is moving forward despite the slow progress of earthquake recovery and the many difficulties facing the country. For the 1200 students and teachers at the school, 2011 will bring hope and the promise of a new and better school as reconstruction begins on phase one of the rebuilding project. Although a specific trip has not been planned there will be several opportunities this year to go to Haiti to see and to serve. As one recent work team member shared from the book of Job, "I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes." The Haitian people need our continued support, our time, our talents, our resources and our prayers. Ministry opportunities include working alongside construction crews, preparing and serving meals for students, sharing Bible stories with children, visiting a Mother Teresa hospital. Gainesville Dist Great Day of Service

Brazil Trip - Church Construction and Evangelism

Please join us as Mt. Zion UMC continues the Lord's work as we work towards completing permanent church facilities for the Santos Dumont Church located in Aracaju Brazil. We will be also be working with the local members on evangelism opportunities by using projector equipment to show the residents, Jesus inspiring movies such as the Jesus Film or Fireproof in efforts to continue igniting the neighborhood around the church in the love of Christ. We will also be running a VBS for the local community. Come and be a part of the Lord's work in the NE Mission Conference of Brazil.

This year’s trip to Nicaragua, in conjunction with Amigos for Christ, provides an opportunity to help the least of our brothers and sisters. You will experience God’s work in the lives of the poorest people in our hemisphere. Participating in this process is a life changing experience and a faith builder. Those of us who have made the journey – and continue to do so year after year – appreciate the opportunity to get out of the rat race for one week and make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of others.
