Joseph and Marilyn Chan, GBGM missionaries

Location: Local National International

A native of Cambodia, Joseph Chan now serves as an ordained pastor and district superintendent in the Methodist Mission in Cambodia. He has served as a missionary since 1998, focusing on the areas of evangelization and church growth. He is a former Buddhist who escaped to Thailand from the "killing fields" and an enslavement camp in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge persecution. In Thailand he converted from Buddhism to Christianity and began leading Bible studies with other refugees. Marilyn Chan serves with the Methodist Mission in Cambodia as Women and Music Ministry Coordinator. In her work with women, she seeks to empower them, particularly in ways that improve their health and economic standing and enhance their spiritual growth. She, too, was enslaved by the Khmer Rouge and escaped to Thailand where she became a Chrsitian. The Chans are the parents of a son and two daughters.
