River of Life Mission Advance is a series of camps like no other you have attended. Young people and adults from dozens of churches will come together for five days dedicated to serving others. Through it all we experience the love of Christ in new and exciting ways.

MUST Ministries

MUST Ministries cannot survive without the support of people like you - people who care about the needs of their neighbors. Most of the day-to-day work at MUST is provided by volunteers who give hundreds upon hundreds of hours to serve others. Last year alone volunteers like you contributed over 255,000 hours of their time to MUST to assist their neighbors in need. That means that for every 1 hour of MUST staff time volunteers donated 3 hours 30 minutes of their own time!

MUST provides a wide range of volunteer opportunities in all three program office locations(Marietta, Smyrna, Cherokee). Even if you have a busy schedule, have children, or have a large group you want to volunteer, there is always some way to volunteer with MUST. Our daily volunteer positions are listed here on our website, as well as group service project ideas, but please contact one of our volunteer coordinators today to learn about other opportunities to serve!

Wesley Community Centers

Wesley Community Centers offers deeply fulfilling opportunities to make a difference.  We treasure our volunteers.

Bethlehem Senior Center
Call Bingo ... teach crafts ... lead a Bible study ... share computer skills ... or just "hang out" with seniors who provide delightful company.

Project Extend
Skilled and unskilled volunteers are welcomed.  Companies, service organizations and churches provide teams who work under the supervision of an expert leader.  Teams of 6-12 persons are ideal for typical projects.  Tools are provided, although many of our "regulars" prefer to bring their own.  Training is available for volunteers interested in coordinating repair teams.

Camp Wesley
Be part of creating an exciting new camp to serve children and youth.  Contact us to learn more about the type of work involved, from clearing brush, to building cabins, to planning programming.

Wesley Walk for Others
Gather a few friends for an invigorating 6 mile walk around Stone Mountain, or a trek around the grounds of Atlanta Motor Speedway.  Walkers who collect pledges of $25 or more earn one of our popular "Giving Feet to the Faith of the Church" tee shirts, plus the satisfaction of helping important ministries.

Wesley Community Centers Board and Committees
We encourage the interest of volunteers who desire to apply their skills and expertise on our board or one of our committees.

Gainesville Dist Great Day of Service

Join your church and community 8 a.m. Saturday, October 8th at Cleveland United Methodist Church for the Stop Hunger Now (www.stophungernow.org) event. Together, we can provide life-saving aid by packing 10,000 nutritionally fortified meals to help end hunger worldwide. Our goal is to raise $2,500 (.25 cents per meal) in order to pack 10,000 meals on October 8th. Event Organizer: Gary Elzey & Rev. We will join with Square Foot Ministry (www.squarefootministry.com) to help build a home for the Doyle family. The framing will be done at Cleveland United Methodist Church and the house will be shipped to Square Foot Ministry for their “12-hour Build” on Veterans Day 2011. We are excited to announce this build for James and Kim Doyle. Married for 17 years, they have 2 children, one 9 years old and one 13. James served in the infantry for 20 years and has been deployed on three different occasions. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery and valor during service and the Purple Heart after being wounded in battle. We are proud to be serving James and his family. Training for Disaster Response

Prepare for your next mission trip and be ready the next time a disaster strikes. The Conference is offering dozens of training opportunities ranging from UMCOR ERT to Prepared Church. Find the list at www.ngumc.org/response.

Murray County Children's summer outreach

This opportunity offers several options. -We will be serving lunch to area children every weekday this summer. We need to people to help serve lunch -We will be serving in our Family Life Center and we need people who are willing to play with the children each day. -We are looking for groups willing to do "backyard Bible School" type activities during the mornings or afternoons around lunch as an outreach to our area children.

Director of Pastoral Care

2:30 - 5PM every Thursday during the school year. Tutoring and mentoring for 3rd grade children from Green Acres Elementary School. Two children per adult volunteer. This program is new and is being coordinated by St. Benedict's Episcopal Church, Smyrna, GA. Safe Guarding God's Children training is required for all volunteers by the Episcopal Church. This training is free and will take 3 hours.
